I arrived at Glasgow late Friday afternoon by train and had no intention of starting the my adventure this late in the day so I booked into the Glasgow Youth Hostel for one night. The cost was around £20.00 and included a well stocked self service breakfast. This particular Youth Hostel is well positioned for exploring Glasgow and it really is worth exploring.

Glasgow has numerous art galleries and museums, nearly all of which are FREE, as well as great shopping and night life.

I took the opportunity to visit the Kelvin Grove Art Gallery & Museum and sample one of Glasgows most famous Indian Restuarants Cafe India.

Probably not the most typical start to walking the West Higland Way, but this is meant to be a holiday.

I left early in the morning after eating as much as I could and took the train from Glasgow Central to Milngavie (pronounced Mullguy).
